I am sure you don’t intend to present the CS Monitor as a conservative counterpoint. That would sully its name. I’m just speculating here, but I would hazard a guess that none of its contributors are Christ Scientists—nor have they ever been—and that they’re merely paid by the church in a reporting capacity only. I would daresay it’s one of the last upright, objective news institutions left, like a buoy of truth bobbing in a sea of dog whistle politics, innuendo and truthiness.

Oh, and I’m not a science denier. But I do pose this scenario to everyone: CNN and other outlets play to your liberal leanings as much as Fox plays to your conservative whims. “The liberal media” only sounds like conspiracy-theory nuttiness until you step back and objectively look at what they’re feeding the public.

I actually read very little “hard” news from the Post (or CSN for that matter). Politically, I am socially liberal, so I do tend to gravitate towards the Post for editorial content (usually balanced out by Bloomberg or the Economist for financial news). My point with posting the CSN article was to convey that both of these articles are really just relaying the findings of NOAA scientists.

I live in Grand Rapids, MI. Your 2014 Northeastern winter was the standard for us here.

I live in Ottawa Ontario. You can tell me it was the warmest winter on record, but the average temperature here in Feb was only 1.3 F.

It got down to -27F. Maybe it was warm other places, it was not at all warm here no matter what the “experts” say.
